Sign in to your account
Welcome back. Enter your email and password to continue. For the highest level of security, ensure your multi-factor authentication (MFA) is active and verify device prompts before approving actions.
Why enable multi-factor authentication (MFA)?
MFA adds an extra layer of protection beyond your password. With MFA enabled, even if an attacker obtains your password, they still need your second factor — typically a code from an authenticator app, an SMS, or a hardware token — to access your account. We strongly recommend using an authenticator app (TOTP) or a hardware security key (WebAuthn) for the best security and phishing resistance.
Authenticator app (recommended)
Use Google Authenticator, Authy, or similar to generate time-based one-time passwords (TOTP). These apps work offline and are not vulnerable to SIM-swapping attacks.
Hardware security key
WebAuthn keys (YubiKey, Titan, etc.) provide strong protection against remote attacks and phishing. Register keys in your account settings for one-touch sign-in and recovery options.
How sign-in works
- Enter your registered email and password on the sign-in form.
- If MFA is enabled, you'll be prompted for your second factor — enter the TOTP code or confirm with your security key.
- If you check "Remember this device", Uphold will remember your browser for a limited time; sensitive actions may still require re-authentication.
- For added safety, Uphold may run risk checks and require additional verification (such as identity verification) for certain features or withdrawals.
Troubleshooting common sign-in issues
Can't receive MFA codes?
Make sure your phone's time is correct (time drift breaks TOTP). If you use SMS, check carrier reception and try requesting a new code. If all else fails, use a registered backup method or contact support with account verification.
Account locked or suspicious activity
For your protection, repeated failed sign-ins or unusual activity may trigger temporary locks. Follow account recovery prompts or contact support — have identifying information ready to verify account ownership.
Frequently asked questions
Can I sign in from multiple devices?
Yes. You can sign in from multiple trusted devices. We recommend enabling MFA and using device-specific remember settings sparingly for public or shared devices.
What do I do if I lose my phone with the authenticator app?
If you configured backup methods (backup codes, secondary phone, or hardware key), use them to regain access. If no backup method is available, follow the account recovery flow and be prepared to provide identity documents to support verification.
Is SMS-based authentication safe?
SMS provides convenience but is less secure due to SIM-swap and interception risks. Use an authenticator app or hardware key for stronger protection whenever possible.
